Clean your home:

Make your home clean and dry before bringing your baby home. Check every nook and cranny of your house and your surroundings to make sure that there is no water stored anywhere. Take extra care of gardens, potted plants, bathrooms, balconies, etc. Make sure there are no leaks or dampness in the house. All these are a breeding ground for mosquitoes and various diseases and infections.

Clothing:

The weather in the monsoon can be quite confusing. Sometimes it gets hot when the sun comes out and the other times it gets cold when it starts raining. During this time if your newborn isn't clothed properly they might catch a cold. Baby clothes made of cotton are always the best. Make sure to keep your baby wrapped up all the time unless it gets too hot.

Protection from mosquitos:

Monsoon brings home a lot of germs and diseases. But what it brings most is mosquitoes. Your baby certainly needs protection against mosquitoes, not only outside but inside your home too. A mosquito repellent can be used in such cases. But don’t forget to check with the doctor before you apply it to your baby. If you are not comfortable with the repellent, you can put a tiny net used for babies. Also, monsoon can bring home other kinds of bugs. A net will work wonders in such cases.

Vaccination:

Babies are prone to getting sick more quickly during the cold monsoon days. During this time, it would be wise to consult with your doctor beforehand. Many doctors recommend getting a flu booster shot during the monsoons. If your child is yet to finish his schedule or has a low immunity than others, getting a booster vaccine can be quite beneficial. You can also keep medicines that will come in handy in your stock.

Prepare fresh food everyday:

If your baby is breastfeeding and eating solids, it is necessary to make fresh food for them for each meal. Formulas ought to be prepared in water that is boiled to remove any possibility of infection. All utensils used by the baby need to be sterilized after each feeding.
By taking the right baby care tips in monsoon, you and your newborn can make the best of the weather and you can be assured of their health and safety.
